Who am I
My name is Sam Tarvit, a jewellery designer originally from Fife and now based in Aberdeen. I’m a recent graduate from Gray’s School of Art, where I completed a BA (Hons) in Three-Dimensional Design/Jewellery Design.
Specialising in nature-inspired jewellery and small sculptural pieces, I work primarily with enamelled copper and found natural objects such as branches and lichen. Each piece is a reflection of texture, place, and time — wearable fragments of the forest that invite reflection and connection.
My journey began with a book, The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater, and its enchanted forest, Cabeswater. That magical, sentient woodland sparked the idea of making jewellery that feels like it belongs to the trees: quiet, powerful, and alive with memory.
Now, my focus is shifting to real places, specifically the ancient forests of the Cairngorms. Through ongoing research and fieldwork, I aim to root my next collection in the textures, forms, and atmosphere of Scotland’s wild landscapes — creating work that is deeply tied to place and that solidifies nature as a defining part of my identity as a designer.
